Patroness of unicorns
June 21, 2018
Mary runs her own business and is an activist campaigning for women’s rights and against climate change. She has a troubled relationship with her fiancé, who objects to her social activism. She also has a friend and business partner, Ali, who has a merry and joyous spirit.
After her grandmother’s funeral, Mary goes with her mother to clean out her grandmother’s house, and there she finds an old chest. Inside, she discovers a beautiful old horn. She so admires it that she takes it with her, and, once she’s home, is compelled to lift it up and place it on her forehead. She transforms immediately into a humanoid unicorn wearing a strange suit of armor. At first, she is terrified, but is soon seduced by the immense powers she discovers that she now possesses. She roams through the city, discovering and testing her new powers. She learns that as soon as she removes the horn from her forehead, she returns to her natural state. She tells Ali, her business partner, about her new powers, since he is the one she trusts most. As they walk down an alley together, they are suddenly attacked by a street gang, and so Mary transforms herself into a unicorn, beating the gang members nearly half to death. She suddenly feels terrified that the immensity of her power might change her life forever, that it might expose her and her loved ones to danger and that she might lose everything she has worked so hard to achieve over the course of her life. She decides hide the horn away and not to use it anymore, but she can’t resist searching for the origins of the horn. Where had it come from?
Her search leads her to David, who introduces himself to her as the Patron of Unicorns. He takes her on a journey through time to a bygone era and an ancient civilization she had never heard of before: the Age of Unicorns. David tells her about the story of the horn, and that because of who she is as a person, she has been chosen from among hundreds of thousands of people to bear the horn. He tells her that her purpose in life is to unite all people together and to protect the earth. Before David leaves, he tells her that he has a mission to fulfill, and that perhaps they will meet again one day in the future.
Mary is excited by the Patron’s message and decides to embrace her identity as the Patroness. She resolves to use her powers for good, to protect the earth and to fight any project that threatens to pollute the city and poses a danger to its environmental well-being. Her activities, however, incite her fiancé’s resentment, who knows nothing about her new powers or identity, and they eventually break up.
Meanwhile, a new global militant group rises to power, and on the news they announce their intention to blast open the hole in the ozone layer with nuclear weapons, threatening to destroy the earth and wipe out all its inhabitants if the governments of the world don’t answer to their demand to hand over billions of dollars.
The militants are confronted by an independent military unit led by Michael, an elite soldier often called upon by different governments across the world thanks to his expertise in eradicating criminal elements. The militants begin with threats and attempt to mount military strikes against the population, but the Patroness faces them down, fighting alongside Michael’s unit of special forces and her business partner Ali, who, as it turns out, had had some military training in the past.
The global group of militants counts some maligans among their members, and the maligans know not only of the horn’s special powers, but of the secret weakness of the Patroness as well: quartz.
So, they arm themselves with quartz weapons to take her down, and manage to wound her gravely during one of their battles. But she is saved by Michael, and soon a romantic relationship blossoms between them. Sadly, however, she loses her close friend Ali, who is killed in the attempt to save her. And so, the Patroness, along with Michael and his military unit, withdraws to arm themselves and prepare for battle anew.
Meanwhile, the global militants begin their preparations to blast a hole in the ozone layer, after the United Nations refuses to give in to their blackmail. The Patroness and Michael join forces with the United Nations to do battle against the militants, with the Patroness leading them all thanks to her superpowers. In the middle of the battle, the United Nations forces switch sides and team up with the militants against the Patroness, suddenly seeing her as the real threat because of her immense powers. They ask her to hand over the horn, and she suddenly remembers a secret that the Patron had told her that would allow her to tap into ever greater powers. She follows his instructions and becomes all the more powerful, and together with Michael’s unit she fights against the United Nations’ forces as well as the global militants, leading her soldiers to victory and succeeding in protecting the earth from the nuclear threat.
The Patroness returns to her country with Michael, though she has been outcast by her government, who consider her a threat to the world’s safety. Undaunted, the Patroness decides that she will dedicate her new identity to protecting the earth and its people from the forces of evil.
